My take on the recent dredging up of the very old story of Russian influence efforts against the 2016 election. This controversy is really much ado about nothing new, and it seems to me that it really isn’t about Russian influence efforts at all. Politics…sigh. I have never believed in the charge of Trump’s “collusion” with Russia, and I never met any intelligence analyst who thought the so-called Steele Dossier was worth the paper it was written on…it was rubbish then, and no evidence has come forward to prove otherwise. But in all of the cacophony and charges, we are missing the big picture: Russia (and China!) want to divide us, make us question our democracy and our democratic systems, because doing so weakens us. Not one of the analyses of Russia’s influence efforts disputes this fact…that’s right! Even the HPSCI report that Gabbard released says this is true. Dividing and weakening America is the only way our adversaries can win. Let’s not help Russia and China by attacking each other. #AmericaStrong
